Senior ANC leader and former minister of justice Jeff Radebe has told the Khampepe Commission of Inquiry into delayed Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) prosecutions that he was unaware of “any formal or informal agreements” engineered to halt the process.

ormer cabinet minister Jeff Radebe has denied responsibility for delays in the prosecution and investigation of apartheid-era crimes during his tenure as justice minister, arguing that those entrusted with prosecutions in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) should have carried out their duties independently.
Testifying before the Khampepe Commission on Tuesday, Radebe said he had no power to prosecute as justice minister and that responsibility for investigating and prosecuting crimes rested with the police and the NPA.
The commission, chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Sisi Khampepe, is probing the handling of cases arising from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

Thoko Didiza Tells TRC Inquiry She Cannot Assist Without Records of 2006 Meetings

Pretoria – National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has told the inquiry into Truth and Reconciliation Commission cases that she cannot help the commission without records, agendas or minutes of two meetings she is said to have convened while acting as justice minister in 2006.
She said she has no independent memory of gatherings from almost twenty years ago. She acted in the portfolio for a little more than five weeks, from 5 September to 13 October 2006, while Minister Brigitte Mabandla was in hospital.
The inquiry, chaired in the Khampepe process, is asking whether politicians blocked or slowed prosecutions that the TRC left unfinished.
Didiza denies convening 2006 meeting linked to Chikane prosecution

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has categorically denied allegations that she convened a meeting of the justice cluster during her brief tenure as acting Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development in 2006.
Didiza was testifying before the Khampepe Commission of Inquiry, which is examining claims of political interference in matters related to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) on Monday.
