Past and present are never far apart at Ahmed Timol Secondary in Azaadville, west of Johannesburg. Learners are following the case against former security branch Sergeant Joao Rodrigues closely. A 1972 suicide version was overturned by the Pretoria High Court last year. Rodrigues has been charged with murder and defeating the ends of justice.
