ERRATUM: ANC STATEMENT ON ANNIVERSARY OF RUTH FIRST ASSASSINATION
In a statement released earlier today, we alluded to Cde Ruth First having been a founding member of the Communist Party and this was an error. Her parents were the founding members of the Communist Party.
Born in Johannesburg in 1925, Cde Ruth First was a lifelong Communist and a daunting enemy of the racist apartheid regime who joined the Young Communist League in her teens and soon proved to be a dynamic public speaker and organiser.
