Media Statement from Nkosi ZMD Mandela MP
Welcoming Appeal Court’s judgement on former President’s residence
Dakar, Senegal: – The Supreme Court of Appeal has spoken, and we welcome the judgement it has delivered regarding the residence of uTatomkhulu President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
We believe that this outcome respects the last wishes of uNkosi Dalibhunga and is in accordance with his last will and testament as executed by the administrators of his estate and his family led by his wife Mamu Graca Machel and the Royal House of Mandela Chieftainship under my leadership.
We are pleased to close this chapter of this saga and trust that it finally puts this matter to rest.
The first month of the Mandela Centennial Celebrations is nearly over and we want to reflect throughout this year on issues of historic significance in our struggle. Last year the legacy of our hero Ahmed Timol was finally restored to its rightful place with the Judicial Inquest and finding that he was murdered by the evil Apartheid security apparatus.
On the 27th January we shall be commemorating the 29th year of the assassination of Dr Abu-Baker Asvat and we call on his family and the Sisulu family to advocate for an inquest into the deaths of Dr Asvat and Stompie Seipei. It is time that these two activists of our struggle are accorded justice and their stories fully told.
In the Centennial Celebration year of Mam Albertina Sisulu the call for an inquest into the brutal killing of Dr Abu-Baker Asvat is of special relevance as he supported her through the years of Cde Walter Sisulu’s incarceration and she regarded him as a partner, a son and comrade in arms. After being shot he breathed his last in Mam Sisulu’s arms.
